Home furnishings giant Crate & Barrel, following in the footsteps of JC Penney, has decided to feature an interracial gay couple in their latest catalog. The embrace of same-sex couples is not new to the retailer, who has included same-sex couples in its annual wedding registry contests, but the prominent placement no doubt will cause anti-gay groups like the American Family Association‘s One Million Moms angst. Fortunately, the attention no doubt will, as usual, lead to a boycott and increased support from most Americans.
The spread, titled, “US&Always,” a running play on the “&” in “Crate&Barrel,” shows the young couple spending “a Saturday night at home, cooking together, dining together,” adding:
Music, candlelight, and a good bottle of wine, and you can have the table as long as you like.

Love it! It is nice to see a company showing what real America looks like! Props to crate and barrel for trying to be all inclusive across all demographics. They ran really good Hanukkah ads this past holiday season, not nearly as important as civil rights, but nice to see.
