Editor’s Note: A previous version of this report quoted the New York Times, which reported former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave had signed on to the amicus brief. Musgrave denies any support.
Now more than 100 Republicans have signed an amicus brief being filed with the Supreme Court in support of same-sex marriage.
The more than 100 prominent Republicans all previously opposed same-sex marriage at one point — the vast majority were until this week still on record as being anti-gay marriage.
Late Monday night, when the news broke that Ken Mehlman had managed to get GOP heavy-weights, like Meg Whitman, to sign the brief, the list stood with 75 names. Today, it continues to grow.
“It now includes Beth Myers, who ran Mr. Romney’s 2008 campaign and was a senior adviser to him in 2012, and Marilyn Musgrave, a retired Colorado congresswoman who was once rated the most conservative member of the House by the American Conservative Union,” the New York Times had reported.
