White Supremacist Kicks Off Top Conservative Conference CPAC Today

A white supremacist –or more specifically, a “white nationalist” — will be part of one of the first panel discussions at this weekend’s CPAC, which begins today at 9:00 AM. CPAC, or the Conservative Political Action Conference, is an annual conference that hosts the most-conservative political leaders in the nation. Thousands, including Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and all Republican presidential candidate attend each year.

Note: As always, The New Civil Rights Movement will provide in-depth coverage of this year’s CPAC. Stay tuned. C-SPAN also carries CPAC live.

That the RNC and GOP would allow at CPAC a white supremacist, who has been designated as the leader of a hate group, is not only telling, but unacceptable. When the Tea Party tries to claim it’s not racist, point to this event.

Via Right Wing Watch:

Following speeches from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Rep. Michele Bachmann, CPAC is hosting the panel “The Failure of Multiculturalism: How the pursuit of diversity is weakening the American Identity” with Peter Brimelow, the founder and head of VDARE.com.

VDARE is a White Nationalist website, run by Brimelow, which frequently publishes the works of anti-Semitic and racist writers and is named after Virginia Dare, who is believed to be the first child of English parents born in the Americas. Brimelow, an immigrant from Great Britain, expresses his fear of the loss of America’s white majority, blames non-white immigrants for social and economic problems and urges the Republican Party to give up on minority voters and focus on winning the white vote. He also said that a New York City subway is the same as an Immigration and Naturalization Service waiting room, “an underworld that is not just teeming but also almost entirely colored.”

VDARE has published the work of people like Robert Weissberg, who says that black and Hispanic students are responsible for problems in the American education systemMarcus Epstein, the Youth for Western Civilization leader who karate-chopped a black woman after calling her a “n****r” (he later pled guilty to assault), and J. Philippe Rushton of the eugenicist Pioneer Fund.

The Southern Poverty Law Center lists VDARE as a White Nationalist hate group and notes that “VDARE.com’s archives contain articles like ‘Freedom vs. Diversity,’ ‘Abolishing America,’ ‘Anarcho-Tyranny — Where Multiculturalism Leads’ and ‘Why Immigrants Kill,’” compiled quotes from other VDARE writers that call the U.S. an exclusively white nation and denounce Jews for “weakening America’s historic White majority.”

As Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and other Republican leaders like Speaker John Boehner and Leader McConnell are scheduled to appear at CPAC, do they have any problem speaking at a conference which is giving a platform to birthers, apartheid apologists and white nationalists?

Welcome to conservatives in 21st century America, taking their country back to the 17th century.

Sick.

Two important things to add:

1. Peter Brimelow wasn't the only white nationalist scheduled for the CPAC stage this afternoon. Robert Vandervoort, the moderator, was an organizer for the white nationalist group Chicagoland Friends of American Renaissance.

2. The same white nationalist, Robert Vandervoort, is scheduled to share the CPAC stage on Saturday with Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (infamous for the draconian anti-immigration laws he's crafted) and two Congressmen from Florida.

Thanks!

This is the NAIL IN THE COFFIN for me! White Supremacist groups at CPAC? WHAT!!!!???? After super spiritual Santorum connecting Waiting For Superman to so-called Black welfare issues, even though the movie was about Americans taking personal responsibility for educating their children. Newt calling this current President the “Food Stamp President,” even though that is a misguided and skewed view of the facts. Or, Romney just out of touch with everyday humans in general and still flipping and flopping all over the country like he did in Massachusetts, I am saying right now. There is NO way that I will support this group of the GOP – PERIOD!!! I guess the days of pragmatic conservatism is over and they just lost my vote for a VERY long time by allowing these groups to speak at a national advocacy conference. http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/1-white-supr
