Mormon Mom Tweets Solution to Abortion – Goes Viral. Conservatives (and a Lot of Men) Are Going to Be Pissed.

‘If You’re Not Holding Men Responsible for Unwanted Pregnancies, Then You Are Wasting Your Time’

Gabrielle Blair describes herself as a Mormon and mother of six at the start of an astonishingly brilliant 2455 word viral Twitter thread that delivers the solution to abortion – especially for conservatives and men who are working overtime to end the practice. And they’re about to get really pissed.

Blair also happens to be a designer and the author of Design Mom, a blog “about the intersection of design and motherhood.” She’s a NY Times bestselling author, and she’s republished her Twitter thread in a blog post.

For those who aren’t prepared to read all 65 tweets, we’ll sum up her thoughts:

“Men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies.”

“If you’re not holding men responsible for unwanted pregnancies, then you are wasting your time.”

“Put a castration law on the books, implement the law…and in 3 months or less, tada! abortions will have virtually disappeared.”

“Men mostly run our government. Men mostly make the laws. And men could eliminate abortions in 3 months or less without ever touching an abortion law or evening mentioning women.”

“STOP TRYING TO CONTROL WOMEN’S BODIES AND SEXUALITY. UNWANTED PREGNANCIES ARE CAUSED BY MEN.”

Want more? Here’s a quick synopsis.

“I’m convinced men actually have zero interest in stopping abortion,” Blair begins. “If you want to stop abortion, you need to prevent unwanted pregnancies. And men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies.”

“ALL unwanted pregnancies are caused by the irresponsible ejaculations of men. Period,” she adds.

Blair also mentions that birth control for women is “brutal,” and the “side effects for many women are ridiculously harmful.”

By comparison, Blair notes, condoms “are readily available at all hours, inexpensive, convenient, and don’t require a prescription. They’re effective, and work on demand, instantly,” and “are so much easier than birth control options for women.”

“Why don’t men just use condoms every time they have sex? Seems so simple, right?” she asks. “Oh. I remember. Men _don’t_ love condoms. In fact, men frequently pressure women to have sex without a condom.”

This is probably a good time to repeat Blair’s basic premise: “men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies.”

And then there’s this: “Pregnancies can only happen when men have an orgasm. Unwanted pregnancies can only happen when men orgasm irresponsibly.”

So, now we come to a major point of her argument:

Why would men want to have sex without a condom? Good question. Apparently it’s because for the minutes they are penetrating their partner, having no condom on gives the experience more pleasure.

So… there are men willing to risk getting a woman pregnant — which means literally risking her life, her health, her social status, her relationships, and her career, so that they can experience a few minutes of _slightly_ more pleasure? Is that for real? Yes. Yes it is.

Blair also offers up another solution.

“So surely, we can expect men who aren’t wearing a condom to at least pull out every time they have sex, right?” she asks. “Nope.”

She notes that “men are willing to risk the life, health and well-being of women, in order to experience a tiny bit more pleasure for like 5 seconds during orgasm.”

And so, logically, Blair concludes: “If you’re not holding men responsible for unwanted pregnancies, then you are wasting your time.”

Stop protesting at clinics. Stop shaming women. Stop trying to overturn abortion laws. If you actually care about reducing or eliminating the number of abortions in our country, simply HOLD MEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

How?

“In my experience, men really like their testicles. If irresponsible ejaculations were putting their balls at risk, they would stop being irresponsible. Does castration seem like a cruel and unusual punishment? Definitely.”

But.

“Is a handful of castrations worse than women dying during forced pregnancy & childbirth?” she asks. “Put a castration law on the books, implement the law, let the media tell the story, and in 3 months or less, tada! abortions will have virtually disappeared. Can you picture it? No more abortions in less than 3 months, without ever trying to outlaw them. Amazing.”

Alternatively, Blair suggests all men at puberty have vasectomies.

Bottom line: Men are responsible for unwanted pregnancies. Stop blaming women for having abortions. Start holding men accountable.

Editor’s Note: To be clear, since abortion tends to bring out people’s passions, let’s be clear: women have an absolute right to control their bodies and that includes the right to abortion. Any effort to end the right to abortion is theft of women’s civil rights. Outlawing abortion will never end the practice of abortion, but it will lead to women dying while trying to obtain abortions – in back alleys and other places, by people who are not experts in performing abortions. It will lead to black market drugs. It will lead to physical and emotional harm to women. Abortion is a civil right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
