Conservative pundit and famous blogger Andrew Sullivan said yesterday if Mitt Romney wins Virginia and Florida, “you’ve got the Civil War.” The Daily Beast blogger was speaking on ABC’s “This Week.”
“This observation came in response to host George Stephanopoulos noting that the latest polls show that six out of ten white Americans intend to vote for Romney,” Mediaite reports:
PBS reporter Gwen Ifill said that “we can’t ignore” the possible factor racial animus may play in deciding the election, noting that the poll indicates that, on some level, people are still willing to admit “racial bias.”
Sullivan then added: “If Virginia and Florida go back to the Republicans, it’s the Confederacy. Entirely. You put a map of the Civil War over this electoral map, you’ve got the Civil War.”
…
Will then posited two possible explanations for Obama’s slippage in the white vote since 2008: “A lot of white people who voted for Obama in 2008 watched him govern for four years and said, ‘Not so good. Let’s try someone else.’ The alternative, the ‘Confederacy’ hypothesis is that those people somehow, for some reason in the last four years became racist.”
“That’s not my argument at all,” replied Sullivan. “It’s the southernization of the Republican Party. [Virginia and Florida] were the only two states in 2008 that violated the Confederacy rule.”
George Will is incorrect, because, as Gwen Ifill pointed out, last week the AP released a study showing that racism has actually risen in America since President Obama took office, primarily from Republicans, and now a majority of Americans harbor anti-Black sentiment.

hopefully people are not stupid enough to vote Romney in, because education has failed in his case, I take this as an example
2005, Romney spoke to conservative voters in South Carolina, as he trained his eye on the presidency. "Some gays are actually having children born to them,'' he said. "It's not right on paper. It's not right in fact. Every child has a right to a mother and father.''
Does it really matter whether his actions and statements were motivated by Romney's authoritarian Mormon faith or were a pander to evangelicals as he sought the presidency, or both? That he could be so zealous, cold-hearted and cruel should alarm everyone about the prospect of Mitt Romney becoming president.
Is this the type of person he american population want as President, Please people, God gave you brains, use them and make sure a bigot like this never becomes President.
