Breaking: House Passes “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Repeal Compromise

At 10:07 PM tonight the U.S. House Of Representatives voted to include the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal compromise amendment in the 2011 Defense Authorization Bill. The measure passed 234-194.

Voting “nay” were 26 Democrats and 168 Republicans. 5 Republicans voted “yea.”

Just a few hours earlier, the Senate Armed Service Committee passed their version of DADT repeal by a 16-12 vote.

The House still needs to vote on the actual Defense Authorization Bill, as does the Senate. The bill is “must-have” legislation and is widely-expected to pass. The president is expected to sign the bill.

Earlier today, Think Progress did a mash-up of GOP House members spewing their hate and ignorance in a concerted attempt to kill repeal. And yes, Bigot-In-Chief Mike Pence continued his lie, modifying it with, “I believe” to cover his back. More cover than he cares to give the brave LGBTQ soldiers defending his right to stand up in Congress and lie to The American People.
