The Executive Committee of the Illinois House tonight passed a same-sex marriage bill by a vote of 6-5. The hearing, which was scheduled to start at 4:00 PM ET did not begin until after 10:00 PM ET, due to a contentious gun control bill the House debated earlier.
No word yet on when — or if — the bill will get a vote in the full House, but if it does and if it passes, the Governor will sign it into law.
NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, and the Illinois Family Institute put forth a team of three witnesses — we’ll have a full report tomorrow.
Congratulations!
