Same-sex marriage just was voted on and passed Britain’s House of Commons after six hours of debate today. The vote was 400-175. More than 70 members spoke. Unlike America, the conservative party pushed through conservative PM David Cameron’s legislation, labeling marriage a conservative value.
While this is far from the final stop, it is a dramatic win and a landmark step.
First to end slavery, about to make gay marriage legal, sometimes I’m proud to be British. I know that’s deeply unfashionable.

Also unlike the U.S., Tony Perkins supports marriage equality for same-sex couples. Of course, that’s MP Tony Perkins, in the photo, speaking, above.
