New York Governor David Paterson, according to a report published late this afternoon by “Business Insider,” is in the middle of a purported sex scandal. The blog claimed the New York Times was going to report that the governor, in office less than twenty-three months, would resign.
Later, Business Insider wrote,
“We spoke with a member of governor Paterson’s communications team who denies that the governor is planning to resign. The official confirmed that a New York Times story is in the works but says it will not run Monday.”
Stay tuned.
Off the top of my head, a resignation amid yet another Democratic sex scandal in New York would improve chances of a Republican taking the Governorship in November, but Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is expected to run, has a very strong hold on the candidacy. Cuomo reportedly supports same-sex marriage.

Unless there are minors or endangered species involved, why on earth should a politician have to resign over an alleged sex scandal? That's so last century.
Anti-gay activists and marriage "sanctity" protecting adulterers David Vitter, Ensign, Sanford and Craig didn't resign. Why should Paterson?
May you live in interesting times is an ancient Chinese Proverb. You see in America we no longer need to remove inconvenient political leaders via assassination, we can cloak them in sexual scandal, feed the media lurid details of a politico's extramarital proclivities and force him to resign. Thing is that if the sex was consensual, did not involve harassment or abuse, its largely irrelevant, except between the politician and his or her spouse. Most Americans would not be surprised to learn that there are marital arrangements, partnerships and understandings and may be even straight up "open" marriages. We are entitled as citizens to contract with one another in our romantic and life partnerships as we see fit and if it is true as it has long been rumored that the Governor has an open marriage or some kind of understanding, far be it for me to judge.
