Via Virginia Young Democrats:

“Attorney General Ken Cucinnelli has gone after rules at our Universities protecting Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender employees. In spite of people from both sides of the aisle condemning Cucinelli’s persecution of gays in state employment, Governor McDonnell and elected Republicans have backed Cuccinelli’s decision. Enough is enough. Governor McDonnell is being anti-equality and anti-jobs. He is breaking his campaign promises: to not discriminate, to bring high quality jobs to Virginia, and to do what’s best for Virginia’s schools. Tell Governor McDonnell to live up to his word, to stop bashing gay and lesbian Virginians, to stop scaring away good jobs and top talent. Tell Governor McDonnell to lead his party out of the wilderness and into the 21st Century by passing non-discrimination protections for state employees.”

Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia’s new Attorney General, directed all state schools and colleges to remove any existing sexual orientation references from their non-discrimination policies. Now he is facing major backlash from the campus populations, LGBTQ activists, and even conservative politicians.
In a memo last week, Cuccinelli wrote,
“It is my advice that the law and public policy of [...]

Why Former USAF Chief of Staff Merrill McPeak’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Memories Don’t Apply To Today’s Military, Or To Today’s America, And Will Make Us Lose Every Battle, Foreign And Domestic.

This week saw more momentum toward repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Senator Joe Lieberman introduced his “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal bill in the Senate. [...]

In a hilarious and yet frighteningly realistic trip into the mind of Liz Cheney, Rachel Maddow plays six degrees of separation with the Al-Qaeda 7.

David Paterson is facing yet another scandal, this one both politically and financially expensive.
And I’m sorry. I was wrong. Late last night I wrote, “I’m pretty sure it can’t get any worse than this…”
Evidently, it can. Just moments after Governor David Paterson finished a meeting of his cabinet, at which he reassured them (assuming it [...]

Rumors Of A Resignation, Aftermath of An Expulsion

Only in Albany. This past Friday the New York blogosphere was abuzz with bombshell rumors that Governor David Paterson was about to resign, amid a sex scandal, mirroring his predecessor’s fall from grace — and office. On Monday the resignation still hadn’t happened, but the ante had been [...]

NOM: Gay Federal Prop 8 Judge Equals Automatic Bias

Thumbnail image for NOM: Gay Federal Prop 8 Judge Equals Automatic Bias

Let’s be totally honest here. The National Organization For Marriage (NOM) hates us. I don’t use the word “hate” lightly. But, as I wrote last week, a just-released Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll found that a large segment of our fellow countrymen, in fact, a majority of Republicans, don’t want us to marry, teach their [...]

Will 66,000 LGBTQ Americans — And Their Families — Sleep Better Wednesday Night?
There are 66,000 active members of the United States military who are LGBTQ, according to the Williams Institute, as reported today in Advocate.com. 66,000. That’s more than three times the troop surge into Afghanistan President Obama ordered ten months ago — the one [...]

Now That Corporations Are People, Can They Marry Each Other? What If They’re Gay?
Tales of the absurdity that is America.

You cannot help but feel amused/ perplexed/ incredulous/ angered/ frustrated/ ready-to-pack-your-bags-and-move-to-another-country by events the past week in America.
After the “stunning upset” Republican Scott Brown (I like to remind him he is a Republican; he seems not to want to tell anyone) [...]
