CNN this week, on the same day that Washington state passed a same-sex marriage equality bill, published an op-ed that states that God will kill gay men and lesbians, titled, “Why I fight to uphold traditional marriage in Washington.”
Rev. Kenneth Hutcherson writes:
“Sodom and Gomorrah practiced the rampant sexual sin of homosexuality and because of that God brought judgment on the cities and destroyed them with fire because of the sin of homosexuality acts (Genesis 19:1-29.)
“Now do I think God brings judgment on a society that encourages homosexuality? I do. And since I am a pastor and God has commanded me to love everyone, I will do what it takes to love them. That does not mean I will accept that they stay the way they are. Unrepentant sin destroys you and will kill you. So if I believe the word of God, that He will bring judgment on a people, then I would be a very bad shepherd not to warn those people.”
Hutcherson uses the word “sin” nine times in his op-ed.
On Top Magazine adds:
Testifying before lawmakers, Hutcherson, senior pastor at the Antioch Bible Church and spokesperson for the Stand for Marriage Coalition, accused lawmakers of second guessing God: “So you’re telling me that you know better than God. You’re telling me that God is not right by limiting marriage to just a man and a woman. You’re doing the same thing. You’re just saying God is too narrow minded, but you’re just as narrow minded, because you just want to give it to two men or two women.”
CNN adds, ”For an opposing view, click here,” which leads to a piece by Rev. Mike Denton, a conference minister of the United Church of Christ, that states,
I learned more about the bible and the multiple ways in which pieces of it could be, and had been, interpreted and misinterpreted. When you looked at some of the original Greek and Hebrew, it became clear that these verses really weren’t talking about a loving couple like Amy and Christine, they were talking about the religious practices of other religions of the day or sexual relationships that were about power, not love.
CNN publishes Hutcherson’s bio as:
Reverend Kenneth Hutcherson is the senior pastor and founder of Antioch Bible Church in Kirkland, Washington. He is also an author of four books, and a former middle linebacker in the National Football League. Hutcherson is a leading voice in the fight to uphold marriage between one man and one woman in Washington state. He blogs at hutchpost.org.

Yeah, where does it say there were gay loving couples in that hate monger crowd outside Lot's house demanding that the strangers be brought out so they may.. RAPE them???
What this "man of god" and every other man of god doesn't tell you is that all organized religion is false and one can only be saved by believe in Jesus Christ, the _only_ Word of God. I mean, what job would they have if no one came to their churches or sermons to get brainwashed once or twice a week???
Oh, Hutcherson! More and More and More isolated in his bigotry. He and BamBam should get together and compare notes!
I would like to see the "good" Reverend and all his ilk answer one simple question for me:
If God is against homosexuality, why is it that in the ENTIRE New Testament Jesus never speaks about it? Did it slip his mind?
Personally it seems pretty clear to me that Jesus was gay. According to the Bible, there was one special loved one in Jesus's life and that person was a man. That man was the author of the gospel of John. He and Jesus publicly displayed their affection – what they did at the Last Supper would get them kicked out of the Chik-Fil-A and beaten up in the parking lot, which is essentially what the people of the time did (in his case, they nailed him to a cross). While Jesus was dying, he asked his mother and this man to treat each other as mother and son, and they did.
Wow CNN is looking like Fox here lately.

One has to wonder if a Jewish issue were being discussed if CNN would ask a Nazi to write an op-ed. Both MSNBC and CNN are utilizing spokespeople who represent hate groups or spout opinions or outright lies
Someone needs to reread their Bible because Sodom and Gamorrah was destroyed by God because they had closed their doors to strangers (and thus Lot and his family were spared). Anal rape (not homosexuality) came after God had already decided to destroy the city. Raping of "enemies" was standard for soldiers of the time; it was a way to humiliate them.
Let's not forget that Lot puts his daughters up to be raped, ffs. How come Christians never deride THAT part of the passage?
they forget a lot of the Bible, not just on homosexuality either. Such as what kind of a fair and loving god would send bears to maul children for laughing at a man's bald head? And what about the parable of the fig tree?
