Would A Democratic Congress Overturn Same Sex Marriage For The Nation’s Capital?
Washington, D.C., our nation’s capital, whose laws are controlled by Congress, is about the join the same sex marriage debate, possibly roping Congress into the mix.
David Catania, a Washington, D.C. Councilman, says he will introduce the “Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009,” to his fellow council members next week. The bill should have no problems passing, as it already has ten of the thirteen members’ support.
D.C. already recognizes same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions.
Congress has the legal authority to overturn the bill. Will the Republicans try to force Democrats to vote for the legislation, so they can use a “pro-gay marriage” line against them in 2010 election ads?

Great news. Maybe we'll have something to celebrate while we're marching for our civil rights next weekend! Hey, Obama, are you listening?
