Dan Savage, co-founder of the It Gets Better project, minutes ago said via Twitter that they have “removed the 49ers It Gets Better video from our website.” Two San Francisco 49ers today stated they didn’t know what they were doing when they participated in recording an It Gets Better video.
The It Gets Better project is aimed at LGBTQ youth and teens, although its main focus is to help end bullying of all kids.
As The New Civil Rights Movement reported this evening, Ahmad Brooks and Isaac Sopoaga, 49ers teammates, “didn’t realize the video’s aim was to specifically combat bullying experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens,” The Huffington Post reported.
This may be the first time a video has been removed from the It Gets Better website, at least for this reason.

I think #horsesh!t sums it up.
Perhaps Dan Savage should learn how to maturely respond to perceived homophobia. Responding with profanity is neither mature nor strategically wise. Any civil or human rights movement should espouse the highest moral values. The 50s/60s Civil Rights Movements practice morally superior virtues such as turn the other cheek, love your enemies, non-violence, and loving your neighbor. They took the high road, and eventually society came over to their side. I fear that too many Gay Rights supporters today espouse and practice scorched earth tactics, seek to crush people who disagree, express themselves in a vulgar manner, and have a penchant for open vulgarity and profanity.
