Breaking: Bryan Fischer Fired As American Family Association’s Spokesperson – But
The American Family Association, a certified anti-gay hate group, has fired its spokesperson, Bryan Fischer, but his replacement is even worse.
Tonight Rachel Maddow broke a huge story: Bryan Fischer, the director of issue analysis, for the American Family Association has been fired.Â
The reasons are unclear, as is his future with the organization. Tim Wildmon, American Family Association president, told MSNBC that Fischer is “just a talk show host.”
Fischer has been the main spokesperson for the certified anti-gay hate group for years, daily spinning lies about the LGBT community, including his infamous claims that the Nazis were gay, the Nazi Party was “formed in a gay bar†by “homosexual thugs,†and that “Hitler himself was a homosexual.”
So why today?
Because on Saturday dozens – close to 100 – members of the Republican National Committee will fly to Israel on a trip sponsored by and paid for by the American Family Association. The same American Family Association that had as its public face and top spokesperson a man who says that the Jewish religion is counterfeit and Jews don’t have First Amendment rights.
But, and there are many buts, there is much more involved in this story, including the fact that Fischer’s de facto replacement is David Lane, the head of the American Renewal Project, which is housed in and funded by the American Family Association.
Lane is so toxic that an op-ed he wrote for World Net Daily, the same site that regularly claims President Barack Obama is gay, was so offensive it was actually removed from the site.
One final thought: Will Fischer sue the American Family Association for firing him for his religious beliefs?
More to come on this important breaking news and developing story.
UPDATE I: Fischer retains his job as AFA radio host.
