The Democratic presumptive nominee will meet within the hour with Senator Bernie Sanders at a D.C. hotel. Through a spokesperson today Sen. Sanders said he is not conceding the race and will continue to fight for the nomination all the way to the July Democratic Convention in July.
Senator Sanders will not drop out “today, tomorrow, or the next day,†his spokesperson Michael Briggs said today, as Bloomberg reported. “We’re meeting with Secretary Clinton this evening and we’ll see how that goes and where things stand after that and make some decision about the future based on more intelligence about where we’re going,†Briggs added.
Sanders on Tuesday also called for a “fundamental transformation†of the Democratic Party.
On Monday, as The Hill reports, a Sanders campaign official “said Monday that Clinton ‘looks forward to the opportunity to discuss how they can advance their shared commitment to a progressive agenda, and work together to stop Donald Trump in the general election.'”
Some pundits and reporters made a few observations about today’s primary via Twitter:
Reminder, as we watch Sanders in DC: this is the first Tuesday with a primary contest during which he hasn’t held a rally in all of 2016.
