Clinton Leads Trump Nationwide by 13 Points in Just-Released Monmouth University Poll
Democrat Beats Republican by Double-Digits Among Registered and Likely Voters
Hillary Clinton is beating Donald Trump by 13 points among likely voters, 50-37, in a just-released poll by Monmouth University. The poll also shows Clinton far ahead of Trump, by 12 points, 46-34, among registered voters, suggesting both results are essentially equal. All results include “leaners.”
Candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are also included in these results, with Johnson taking 7 points and Stein 2 points in each among both registered and likely voters.
Of note, compared to Monmouth’s July poll, August’s shows Clinton gaining 3 points among registered voters, and 5 points among likely voters. Trump lost 6 points among each group.
Why is Trump down 50-37 in new Monmouth poll? White women with college degrees: Romney WON them by 6 point margin. Trump is LOSING by 30.

“Independents are divided between Trump (32%) and Clinton (30%),” the Monmouth poll states, adding:
Clinton has solidified support among her partisan base since the conventions while Trump struggles to lock in his. More than 9-in-10 Democrats (92%) say they will vote for Clinton, up from 88% in July and 85% in June. Just 79% of Republicans are backing Trump, which is virtually unchanged from prior polls (81% in July and 79% in June).
Trump’s unfavorability rating jumped 8 points among registered voters, from 53% to 61%. Clinton  reversed course, dropping her unfavorables by 3 points to 49%.
Trump’s favorability rating also dropped, to 26%, from 31% one month ago. Clinton’s increased 3 points, to 37%.
Two-thirds of registered voters said Donald Trump does not have the temperament to be president, while six out of ten said Hillary Clinton does have the right temperament.
Without the new Monmouth poll, today’s Real Clear Politics average shows Hillary Clinton with a 7-point lead against Trump. Â
