Donald Trump Jr. Says His Gas Chamber Comment Totally Wasn’t Anti-Semitic
Says Comment About Killing Democratic Candidates Was Merely Referencing Corporal Punishment
Donald Trump, Jr. is insisting comments he made about Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders that invoked a “gas chamber” were not at all anti-Semitic.
Thursday morning Trump, Jr. complained about what he claims is a media that he sees as Hillary Clinton’s “number one surrogate,” concluding the media has “let her slide on every indiscrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of this thing. If Republicans were doing that, they’d be warming up the gas chamber right now.”
Thursday afternoon, Trump, Jr. told NBC News’ Katy Tur that his comments were not at all anti-Semitic, but in fact he was merely referencing “corporal punishment,” punishment of minors that generally includes severe spanking or paddling, not death by poisonous gas.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was quick to denounce Trump’s remarks.
.@DonaldJTrumpJr: We hope you understand the sensitivity and hurt of making Holocaust jokes. We hope you retract.https://t.co/jL2ZC9Z8pH
