Franklin Graham: Only God Owns The Rainbow
Franklin Graham is apoplectic over the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage, and he want to make sure you know it.
Franklin Graham, the less-charismatic son of iconic evangelical preacher Rev. Billy Graham, took to Facebook several times over the past few days to lament the Supreme Court’s ruling that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry – and to try to rebrand the rainbow.
Unlike his well-respected father, who was a trusted advisor to many presidents, Franklin Graham spends much of his political capital attacking the LGBT community, homosexuality, and same-sex marriage.Â
Saying the Supreme Court is “not entitled to re-define” marriage, Graham went on to “pray God will spare America from His judgment, though, by our actions as a nation, we give Him less and less reason to do so.”

He of course sat down with Fox News’ religion reporter Todd Starnes, warning, “I believe God could bring judgment upon America.”
“You better be ready and you better be prepared because it’s coming. There will be persecution of Christians for our stand.”
And, of course, the endless claims about sin.
“I’m disappointed because the government is recognizing sin,” Graham told Starnes. “This court is endorsing sin. That’s what homosexuality is – a sin against god.”
“God gave us marriage. Period. And God doesn’t change his mind,” he said, apparently ignoring the entire New Testament, not to mention Jesus’ actual teachings.
Back on Facebook, Graham wrote,
“Pride goeth before a fall.†Supreme Court Justice Scalia used Proverbs 16:18 in his comments regarding the court’s disappointing and dangerous ruling about same-sex marriage. He rightly called the decision “a threat to the American democracy.†This is so true. Arrogantly disregarding God’s authority always has serious consequences. Our nation will not like what’s at the end of this rainbow.
And got really, really mad that gay people – and President Barack Obama – have been using the rainbow as a symbol of equality and diversity.
“The President had the White House lit up in rainbow colors to celebrate the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage,” Graham posted to Facebook. “This is outrageous—a real slap in the face to the millions of Americans who do not support same-sex marriage and whose voice is being ignored.”
Graham has never once complained that President Obama stuffs the White House every year with dozens of Christmas trees that millions of Americans who are not Christian might not support.

“God is the one who gave the rainbow, and it was associated with His judgment,” Graham preached. “God sent a flood to wipe out the entire world because mankind had become so wicked and violent. One man, Noah, was found righteous and escaped God’s judgment with his family.”
“The rainbow was a sign to Noah that God would not use the flood again to judge the world,” Graham continued. “But one day God is going to judge sin—all sin. Only those who are found righteous will be able to escape His judgment. That righteousness comes through faith, believing on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ who took our sins and shed His blood on the cross for each and every one.”
“So, when we see the gay pride rainbow splashed on business advertisements and many people’s Facebook pages, may it remind all of us of God’s judgment to come,” he said, trying to rebrand and co-opt the rainbow. “Are you ready? Are your sins forgiven?”
