DOMA is the focus of a lawsuit filed by U.S. military service members. Stephen Hill, the brave, gay soldier who was booed at a recent GOP debate, is one of eight plaintiffs suing the federal government over the Defense of Marriage Act, which has already been found unconstitutional in federal court. And as it turns out, Stephen Hill is married, to Josh Snyder, who appeared today on MSNBC to discuss the federal lawsuit, and the offensive booing at the GOP/YouTube debate.

Snyder, speaking with MSNBC’s Alix Witt, says healthcare and housing are but two of the benefits afforded heterosexual married couples that homosexual married couples are by law prohibited from accessing. Also, simple human rights, such as contacting a same-sex couple’s loved one upon injury or death, or death benefits are challenging — if not illegal — with DOMA.

Title X is the part of the law the lawsuit is attempting to overturn, Snyder says.

Snyder says the military is his family and he feels they don’t feel any ill-will from military leaders.
