Elizabeth Taylor’s funeral will be protested by God Hates Fags, the self-created moniker of the Westboro Baptist Church. Taylor, who passed away today at 79, was considered a gay icon and a beloved American, and therefore is especially appealing to the Westboro Church, fresh off its recent Supreme Court First Amendment victory.

Via her Twitter account, Margie Phelps, daughter of Pastor Fred Phelps, Westboro’s leader, said, “Hello rebels! RIP Elizabeth Taylor is in hell as sure as you’re reading this & getting mad as a wet hen. She should’ve obeyed God. Too late!,” and “No RIP Elizabeth Taylor who spent her life in adultery and enabling proud fags. They cuss her in hell today. #Westboro will picket funeral!”

Phelps also tweeted, “You brutes bellow RIP Elizabeth Taylor It’s not yours to give peace -it’s God’s. HE expressly declared no peace for wicked -only obedient,” and “Media mob & talking dead-heads will publicly lionize whore #ElizabethTaylor & squeal like stuck pigs when #WBC pickets funeral. #ShesInHell.” Phelps also called Taylor a “proud sinner.”

The God Hates Fags Church, known for its extreme stance against homosexuality, recently came into the news when Anonymous took down their websites on February 24, after a week of threatening to do so, to which the Westboro clan had responded, “Bring It.” (The websites are still down, one month later.)

After their Supreme Court win, the Westboro Baptist Church promised to quadruple its funeral protests, at which they shout and hold signs that say, “God Hates Fags,” and other uniquely-religiously-tainted comments.

You know it's also not your place to condem anyone, do you read the bible yourself? Inthe bible it says""Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Matthew 7:3

Members of Westboro Baptist "Church" are despicable. I hope when you meet your GOD he kicks your ass and sen you to hell.

often those who hide behind words of hatred are the one who should look at there life and reflect…. God would not have created differences if it was not his intention…

robert March 23, 2011 at 7:10 pm

☮ ƁℇąƯŁ☥ϝưĿ ƿℇ♡ℙ⅃℮ … I'm sure God is not smiling down on these wretched people … They are no better than someone who kills in the name of their God. It's sad that they have nothing better to do … like feed the hungry or house the homeless. Unless they think them to be sinners also. Don't they know that we are all sinners. It is impossible to be sin free. Who do they think they are? I bet they sin more than someone who loves a person no matter their sexuality. God bless us all … especially Ms. Phelps! ♥

Myra Scholten Parham March 23, 2011 at 7:47 pm

that discuss me to be so disrespectful at a passing of a person god hates ugly and this is the ugliest i hope these people is able to answer there sins

‎1 Corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the …poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

@My__Opinions March 24, 2011 at 1:06 am

Anyone who disrespects those who have passed is a menace to themselves as well as society. These people are mentally ill and are miserable that is the reason why they have the need to  feed on others pain. This is what hate does to you no matter what religious belief you tend to follow. Hate is not the answer and I don't care who's God advocates it.

So, these are Christians?

NotReallyHere March 24, 2011 at 9:36 pm

Um no. Clearly not. The old song goes "And they'll know we are christians by our love." Key word, love. They are a sick cult, who thrives on spreading the misery they feel every day.

They have no clue what's coming at them if they protest Taylor's funeral. Tens of thousands of mourners will be there. Imagine what would happen if they tried to protest Elton's funeral. One of two things will happen: a Phelps will be killed or their protest will create a law making funeral protests illegal. I REALLY hope both occur. Those inbred victims of pathological delusions will experience karmic consequences of a magnitude unforeseen. May death find them early. Then they can personally say whatever they would like to the deceased they are so judgmental of.

Shannon March 24, 2011 at 1:58 am

This kind of despicable behavior makes me so thankful I'm not religious. How could I possibly support something that turns people so ugly. To protest such hate at Liz's funeral (let alone anyone's funeral) is, to me, the highest form of disrespect to not only the person who has died, but all their friends and family. Elizabeth Taylor was an icon and a huge supporter of charities. What have these people done with their lives??

Eva March 24, 2011 at 5:15 am

They're a bunch of nutcases..They only seek for attention..The best thing would be if the media just ignored them..people like them are not worth the paper we wipe our asses with..

This is a load of shit in todays society im suprised there are people with such narrow minded perspectives on homosexuality. What is so awful about being a Homosexual, If this allmighty lord thaught there was someting wrong with it dont you think he would do something about it. i mean i preaty sure somewhere in the bible it says dont judge people but im not sure because i gave up reading it i realised it was a load of rubbish. "god" didnt make us who we are today we did, and you may find that "God" is at the base of a lot of our problems: War, Homephobics, ETC

Kiana Randle March 24, 2011 at 7:47 am

Cannot believe people can be so disrespectful and narrow minded in today's society, if your going to be religious can you maybe try and at least follow the teachings properly instead of using a faith to cover up your own prejudice.

David Badash March 24, 2011 at 12:20 pm

… Then their views would go unchallenged. Silence = complicity. Silence = acceptance. Silence = death. The right thing to do is to let their bigotry and hate be seen for what it is. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, as they say.

somebody just kill them already. see, if these nuts had signs that read: "god hates niggers" there would have already been a dead phelps. racism doesn't get the respect it once did, and rightfully so. we have become so pathetically complicit, the homosexual community has. we need to flash mob their home and set it on fire in the middle of the night. seriously. put these inbred mental illnesses out of their misery.

That is so hurtful. It amazes me how people can be so full of hatred in the name of God. Wow.

RI-Sean Miller March 24, 2011 at 6:11 pm

Good Christian Attitude! I am sure thats what Jesus would do, even though he says to love one another. But hey, that does not matter.

libby March 24, 2011 at 7:37 pm

oh they should not be allowed to do this.. elizabeth did such good work and worked so hard for humanity.. hold funeral in private undisclosed location.. do not allow this to happen

libby March 24, 2011 at 7:39 pm

please gather a large group much larger than their group and protest prejudice.. protest what they are doing and honor liz taylor, a true humantarian

NotReallyHere March 24, 2011 at 9:37 pm

Nothing about these lunatics is Christian. My own grandmother was a baptist, and believe me, she was nothing like these rats.

Glenna March 25, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Please do NOT allow this crowd of people to deceive you into thinking that the majority of Christians act as these do. I am a Christian and I can assure you that It simply is not true. To be a Christian is to know that you do not have the right to judge another person. As well, in the love of Christ you are to love others as yourself and do unto others as you would want others to do unto you. Unfortunatley a lot of Christians have lost sight of the Love of Christ and fallen away from the way His Words instruct us we are to act and the character we are to have. I pray for Ms. Taylor's family and friends. That the Lord will give them peace and comfort during this difficult time off loss.

Meghan August March 28, 2011 at 3:19 pm
