Hillary Clinton Responds To A Letter From A Girl With Gay Dads
Hillary Clinton responds with support and motivation to a 12-year-old girl with two dads.
Hillary Clinton recently responded to a letter she received from a 12-year-old girl with two dads. The girl, Olivia, describes her family and goes on to mention that she is “really glad, that there is now gay marriage legal all around the whole 50 states of America!†Olivia also mentions that she has ADHD and Dyslexia, and she wished that there were more public schools that could help people like her.
Hillary responded with the following statement on her website:
“Thank you for writing to me; it put a smile on my face. … Please know that I join your dads in cheering you on for great success. Keep up the great work, always care deeply about what you believe in, and never stop reaching for the stars!â€
Clinton has been stepping up her support for the LGBT community lately. She was the first 2016 presidential candidate to wish America a Happy Pride Month. Also, when speaking to students at a town hall at Keene State College in New Hampshire earlier this month, she promised to make the Equality Act her highest priority. The town hall comments come after one of her emails exposed her as being against the State Department substituting “mother and father†for “parent one and parent two,†apparently concerned how conservative media would frame it. Keep in mind, this email was from 2011, and was before even Obama came out in support of marriage equality.
What do you think about Clinton’s continuous evolution on LGBT equality? Is she your candidate for president, or are you supporting someone else? Let us know in the comments section below.
