Surprise! No New York Gay Marriage Vote Tonight
The New York State Senate, which conveniently leaked that there would be a vote tonight on the gay marriage bill, has, true to form, let New York down.
The Albany Times-Union reported just minutes ago, “the Senate will not take up the DRP or any other legislation (read: gay marriage) tonight. Staff only began drafting the bill at around 7 p.m. tonight.”
In case you missed that, “Staff only began drafting the bill at around 7 p.m. tonight.”
Yes, that’s right, “Staff only began drafting the bill at around 7 p.m. tonight.”
I rest my case. The current New York State Senate is the most incompetent legislative body in recent history.
