Holy Freudian slip Batman!
Bill Lunn, a newscaster for Minneapolis’ KSTP TV, suffered one of life’s embarrassing moments this week. Lunn led off his newscast with an unfortunate slip of the tongue, which, as he tweeted good-naturedly afterwards, shall live forever on blooper reels everywhere.
Lunn meant to repeat the first line of the Pledge of Allegiance, a line we have all said thousands of times without mishap. But on Wednesday night, it couldn’t have gone worse for Bill Lunn. “I pledge allegiance to the fag.” he opened the newscast, meaning to tease a story about how the city council is considering ending the custom of beginning their meetings with The Pledge. The very next story was a report on the Twin Cities Pride Festival.
Lunn was understandably chagrined by his faux-pas, but he took the ensuing ribbing with good humor. What else can a guy do?
