Racist Fox News viewers, upon learning Qatar-based al Jazeera yesterday bought Al Gore’s Current TV cable news channel, took to Twitter to display their ignorance. In a series of tweets focused on the hashtag #CurrentAlJazeeraShowPitches, conservatives revealed their anti-Arab bigotry.

“So how are America’s truest Americans reacting to the move?,” Gawker asked. “As you might expect, the answer is: not well. After news of the deal broke, various right wing pundits, writers and their Twitter followers started a fun, bigoted game called #CurrentAlJazeeraShowPitches, in which they show off their best jokes exposed their best racist xenophobia (Qatar, which owns Al Jazeera, is one of the US’s closest allies in the region, so it’s not as if a secret terrorist organization is suddenly broadcasting live into 40 million U.S. homes).”
But the joke really is on Erickson & friends: A Fox News top investor is none other than Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Wow. A foreign-based news media agency with a slanted political agenda has the audacity to think it should be allowed to establish itself in the mainstream U.S. media market.
