Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson recorded this video, in which he — shamelessly! — uses a cute puppy, an sings a cute song, to announce he’s getting married to his partner, boyfriend, roommate, Justin Mikita, and to announce he’s created a new foundation, Tie The Knot, in association with The Tie Bar, which “will release stylish collections of neckwear seasonally to benefit U.S. Organizations fighting on behalf of LGBT civil rights.”

“Justin and I created Tie The Knot in the hopes that we soon see a day when millions of Americans across the country will have the basic civil right to marry the person they love,” said Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “When people purchase our bow ties, they’re raising funds that will help support marriage equality, and they’re doing it while looking damn good. I have been a big fan of The Tie Bar and have often worn their bow ties to various events so I am thrilled to be teaming up with them on this project. They have been a perfect companion on this journey bringing their savvy sense of fashion and high quality workmanship to the table. I can’t wait for people to see what we have created!”

Now if Mr Ferguson would stop promoting a stereotype on the sitcom he stars in this would also help the cause!
I found the clip charming. It makes no sense to deny LGBT people their right to marry. It was common in the ancient world, and even in the early christian church (before it was formally created in 325 CE as the "catholic [universal] church"–but even then popes married (a total of 39 pontiffs were married, and another 37 had concubines or male lovers as with Julius III, etc). All people have a right to marry whom ever they want–it is a civil ceremony that should bestow equal rights on all people.
