Rush Limbaugh called the Georgetown Law student, Sandra Fluke, whom Congressman Darrell Issa refused to allow to testify at the Republican men-only contraception hearing two weeks ago a “prostitute” and a “slut.” He then walked

“What does it say about the college coed Susan [sic] Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.

“She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We’re the pimps.

“The johns, that’s right. We would be the johns — no! We’re not the johns. Well — yeah, that’s right. Pimp’s not the right word.

“OK, so, she’s not a slut. She’s round-heeled. I take it back.”

While it’s probably not even worth engaging with Limbaugh on the facts, Fluke’s testimony was about a friend who is a lesbian and needed birth control for non-sexual medial reasons, so he’s only wrong about three times over, and offensive many more times over than that.

Last month, Limbaugh lauded Newt Gingrich as “a victim” for asking his second wife to have an “open marriage” before he divorced her, after she told him she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, after he admitted to cheating on her for years.

Fluke, by the way, ultimately did testify, as the only witness in front of a Congressional hearing put together by Nancy Pelosi. Here’s what she told them, according to The Blaze:

“Forty percent of the female students at Georgetown Law reported to us that they struggled financially as a result of this policy,” Fluke said, referring to the fact that the university doesn’t pay for contraception. “Without insurance coverage, contraception, as you know, can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school.”

She detailed, among other stories, how one woman felt “embarrassed” and “powerless” at the pharmacy counter when she “learned for the first time” that contraceptives weren‘t covered by the university’s health care plan.
