Edith Windsor, or “Edie,” as many call her, joined local New York City politicians in a march to protest the recent crime wave of anti-gay hate that culminated in Friday’s shooting death of Mark Carson.

Windsor, a New York resident whose Supreme Court case may strike down DOMA,  was joined by NYC City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is running for mayor, and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, NYC City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, one of four openly-LGBT members of the City Council, in the march.

Mark Carson’s aunt spoke to the crowd of thousands who gathered in the hot 75 degree Manhattan afternoon.

Letter I sent tonight TO CHRISTINE QUINN AFTER THE SILENT MARCH PAST ST. VINCENT'S HOSPITAL SITE, HONORING MARK CARSON'S LIFE. KNOW HE WAS ALIVE ON 8TH STREET. HE DIED IN THE 1.3 MILE RIDE TO BETH ISRAEL HOSPITAL. ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC

Christine,

You don't know how you looked like a hypocrite walking with the survivors yesterday in the Silent March past St Vincent's Luxury apartments. Sure you were protected by your staff and the NYPD from anyone pointing this out today. But know your crocodile tears do not hide the lies you told me, Norman, and others in that city hall meeting with Dwayne K. and other staffers 2 days before you like Boss Tweed (you are not) got the City Council to vote for Rudin Luxury apartments and left me and your community in the dark with Charles Barron, on how you could approve 21 to 40 million dollar condos and no hospital for 1.5 million residents and those who visit the west side of Manhattan. Do you realize that Mark Carson was alive on 8th Street where he fell. It was only in the drive to Beth Israel Hospital where he died, like so many others in the 1.3 mile trip. He fell Alive only 2 blocks from St. Vincent's Hospital site, but you know that, you walked right past it today without even thinking about human life, including Mark Carson.

Sure you might ignore the truth of my letter? You could call me a thorn in your side? But it was in that meeting with Norman Siegel and others 2 days before the Council vote that you said. "St. Vincent's Hospital will go down as my biggest failure." 'In two years I have have not made my mind up on the use of St Vincent's property" You certainly got rid of your fear of the community as you told his you had and the reason you never addressed the loss of hospital. Now you can just ignore it's absence. Hug those mothers. But know the truth is out there to follow you the rest of your campaign and life. Your part in the demise of healthcare in West Manhattan when time is of essence and human life is the most frail.

I await your reply.

Sincerely,

Timothy Lunceford

"Culminated" is the wrong word since it suggests that the crime wave is now over.
