President Obama just minutes ago nominated Chuck Hagel to be America’s next Secretary of Defense, noting he would be the first person of enlisted rank to lead the Defense Department, saying “Chuck Hagel is the leader our troops deserve,” and, a “decorated combat veteran… one of their own.”
President Obama also nominated John Brennan, who, “literally built and then led the National Terrorism Center,” to be the next CIA Director.
Leon Panetta, retiring Secretary of Defense and former CIA Director, wholeheartedly endorsed Hagel.
