NOM President Brian Brown sent a frantic fundraising email tonight worrying about the “sanctity” of gay comic book weddings. Brown, who freaked when Northstar proposed, and freaked when Green Lantern was rebooted as gay, is now freaking about a real-life same-sex couple whose New York Times profile this week showed them getting married in a Manhattan comic book store, in front of a huge poster of the Northstar comic book cover — and thousands of Northstar comic books.

Getting married in a comic book store, while not my dream wedding, is hardly cause for alarm. Frankly, if you’re a comic book fan, it sounds awesome. If Brian Brown wants to protect and preserve marriage, rather than attacking a same-sex couple who got married in a comic book store because they are comic book fans, why not attack “Millionaire Matchmaker,” and all those disgusting TV shows like “The Bachelor”?

The National Organization For Marriage’s Brian Brown isn’t really lamenting a wedding in a comic book store, nor is he really lamenting a gay comic book hero getting married.

Brian Brown is lamenting the fact that gay people are getting married, and it is really pissing him off.

In his fundraising email, Brown writes:

Marjorie Liu, an X-Men writer, told Rolling Stone she wanted to inspire others to follow their footsteps. “Here are two people, trying to live their lives—mutant and gay, black and gay—empowered in their own ways, but also fringe-dwellers,” she said. “They’re living life on their own terms…The message is: You can do the same thing.”

A comic book shop in New York City spotted a commercial opportunity, a chance for some nice publicity, according to LifeSiteNews.

They decided to fund an all-expenses paid wedding for two lucky guys, in their comic book store.

No, I’m not making this up.

Either am I Brian. Go defend marriage. Go fight the Bristol Palins, the Britney Spears, The Bachelor, and Millionaire Matchmaker. And then, go fight what truly is destroying marriage: an economy not designed to support parents who want to raise families, a health care system that’s killing people because it’s so expensive, and a Republican party that is dedicated to destroying America.

And leave the comic books alone, Brian.

Far be it from me to attempt to say it any better than Ron Romanovsky: http://youtu.be/IYnT-Ef6U1A ("The Sanctity of Marriage").

Brian Brownstain wouldn't understand Manhattan life if it fell on him from the top of the Empire State Building. How can you even take seriously, an anti-gay group head who begs for money on the basis of the marriage of people he doesn't know, will never meet, will never harm him or his followers in any way . . .

Well, he runs an organization called "National Organization for Marriage", the purpose of which is to keep people from getting married. It's clear he doesn't understand.
