President Barack Obama took the opportunity at the annual pardoning of the White House turkey this afternoon to crack jokes about Mitt Romney‘s “gifts” claim and Nate Silver.
“So in the spirit of the season, I have one more gift to give,” the President joked, a clear reference to Mitt Romney’s post-election claim that he lost the election because President Obama “focused on giving targeted groups a big gift — so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”
The President also quipped that the “American people have spoken, and these birds are moving forward,” a nod to his campaign slogan.
“Now, I joke, but for the first time in our history, the winners of the White House Turkey Pardon were chosen through a highly competitive online vote. And once again, Nate Silver completely nailed it. The guy is amazing. He predicted these guys would win.”
