Pat Robertson on his “700 Club” show today said “the union of two men doesn’t bring forth anything except disease, apparently, and suffering, and the same thing with the union of two women.” Robertson, saying, “a male is equipped in a particular fashion and a female is equipped in a particular fashion and the union of the two brings forth children,” claimed President Obama is making the marriage issue a “political football” and acting as a “shameless panderer to special interests.”
For the record, it is a lie to state that same-sex marriage only leads to disease and suffering. Pat Robertson, who has called same-sex marriage an “abomination” in the past, needs to apologize and spend more time reading the Bible. This is not Christianity. Robertson apparently hasn’t heard yet of what we’re fighting for: civil marriage, which is not, “a holy union,” as he describes marriage. One must wonder what Robertson thinks of atheists who marry?

WHY do people like this put so much bloody stock in procreation? Are they aware that many LGBTQ people aren't white and/or economically-secure and/or documented and/or evangelical, so why would they want these people reproducing? Simply in the name of "protecting" marriage and the family?
And anyway, why would it be so bad for "sodomites" to get diseases and die out? (Oh, I forgot, because all us queers are out to forcibly infect "normal" people, silly me.) Were conservatives to get their way, we'd get rid of "socialized medicine" and then their precious tax dollars wouldn't go towards teh gheys to get better from imaginary diseases.
Not to respond with mud-slinging, but I think that the only suffering these homophobic people are concerned with is their own, for having to accept the fact that not everybody fits into their incredibly narrow belief system. Nor does everyone– probably the majority of Americans– WANT to.
Now I gotta go hug my partner and suffer and get diseased and stuff, peace out, Pat et. al.
ETA: Not all of us are cisgender, either, how I forget to include that?
