Pat Robertson today falsely claimed that Congress seemed to be getting involved in the Boy Scouts of America‘s decision on dropping their national ban on gay people. Perhaps the octogenarian televangelist was equating the comments from two Senators, Jeff Merkley and Sherrod Brown, who came out in support of the Scouts lifting their discriminatory ban, but Congress is not going to get involved.
Then Robertson claimed that if the Scouts lift the ban on gays, we will see “predators as Boy Scouts, pedophiles who will come in as Scoutmasters.”
Because, in Robertson’s mind — and that of so many “Christian” conservatives and those of the radical religious right, gay equals pedophile.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the “Christian” conservatives and those of the radical religious right should look at the actual child predators and rapists: some of the very, very many Catholic and other Christianist priests.

I guess Pat hasn't heard of BSA's "secret list" of over 1200 abusive scoutmasters they tried to keep hushed up…
The ONLY reason old "Pat" is still alive is simple: Satan isn't ready to fight him for the leadership of Hell.
Of course Pat hasn't heard of BSA's "secret list". He is busy helping make excuses for the sexualizing of 4-5 year olds at the First Lutheran Church of Carson School in Carson, Calif
Apparently no one has wised Pat to the fact that most pedophiles identify as straight men in their adult relationships. Many are married with children of their own. Perhaps BSA should consider barring married heterosexual men with children from being troop leaders.
It's the only thing they have to use against a change in the BSA policy. Interestingly enough, not all that many people believe it any more.
Whoever's supposed to be taking care of Robertson is really falling down on the job — they really shouldn't let him embarrass himself in public like that.
So, they have had the ban forever and have had over 1900 cases of sexual abuse of boys. Says to me it's the heterosexuals abusing the kids, not the gays.
