Strong And Consistent Support For Same-Sex Couples

A new Cornell University/NY1 Poll finds 46% of New York voters favor marriage equality. The same poll last year found only 38% support for same-sex marriage. Last month, a Quinnipiac University poll also found the same 46% support.

But an April, 2009 Siena College poll revealed a majority of New Yorkers, 53%, favored the very same-sex marriage bill Governor David Paterson is supporting. The Siena College poll did not ask respondents about civil unions, whereas the others have. Evidently, a great number of New Yorkers support recognition of same-sex relationships to the full limit possible.
