Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, yesterday was asked by a reporter why he focuses on homosexuality and abortion when the Bible does not. Perkins was delivering a speech at the historic National Press Club, to kick off the Values Voters Summit, an annual conference of right wing conservative politicians, pundits, and religious leaders.

“Given the Bible’s relatively few mentions of abortion and homosexuality, around 10 combined, and the numerous mentions of poverty and hunger, at least 200, how do you justify your strong stance against homosexuality and abortion while ignoring hunger and poverty?,” a reporter asked Perkins.

“That’s not our main focus,” Perkins delivered as part of his lengthy response, which also included claiming the question was based on “a false assumption.” Perkins added, “there are those in society who are impoverished because of choices that they make, there are those who are impoverished because of circumstances, which should be the object of our charity.”

Perkins also claimed that children born to heterosexually married parents are less likely to be impoverished. No mention of the fact that same-sex marriages produce at least the same result.

Stating the obvious, the mis-named Family Research Council, which is an anti-gay hate group because it spreads lies about LGBT people, is not “researching” the family — certainly not credibly. It is a professional lobby organization, based in Washington, D.C., that works to make the lives of LGBTQ people and our families more difficult, and works to stop or slow our attempts, and those of our allies, to achieve equality.

Tony, tony, tony — we all know why you focus on homosexuality, you are not fooling anybody.

I love the part where he says that the poor choose to be poor. This is hardly what his Christ guy taught. But surely you know, Tony is a closet homosexual whose mother named him after a movie actor who died of AIDS. In order to keep people from confusing him with the actor, he started lashing out at gay people, knowing he himself is gay. He got involved in the PAC because, as its spokesperson, he would seem the least likely person to be homosexual. There used to be a YouTube clip of him explaining all of this but I think they put pressure on and it was taken down.

Giving to the needy sounds more Christian than apposing same-sex marriage.
And kids born to opposite-sex couples are less likely t be impoverished because their parents get benefits that are currently denied to same-sex couples.

They'll find him tapping his foot in a public men's room stall eventually like all the rest of the rabid conservatives foaming at the mouth about homosexuality.

This man had better never cross my path.
