Round Two: Is President Obama Doing Enough And Keeping His Promises To The Gay Community?

by David Badash on September 14, 2009

in Polling

Five Months Later, The Numbers Are The Same

A few months ago, I asked the question, “Is President Obama doing enough and keeping his promises to the gay community?” Several months later, amazingly, the results have not wavered. With over 1000 responses, yet holding steady over the months, 52% to 54% say “No.”

Have your say here, if you’d like.

(But stay tuned, because now that’s no longer the pertinent question.)

Actually heterosupremacist in chief Obama is keeping his promises to his supporters who voted for him and against equal marriage rights in California, Arizona and Florida, and against the right for gay and lesbian people to adopt the children abandoned by heterosexual parents in Arkansas.

During the LOGO TV Debate, candidate Obama said he was against marriage equality. The only promise he made was to preachers, and he promised that he would make sure they did no go to jail if they didn't perform wedding ceremonies for same-sex couples.

So he has kept his promise, by having his administration file a brief with SCOTUS declaring mariage equality for same-sex couples was like raping children or incest.

He also promised that he would not overturn Don't Ask Just Kick the Fags Out & Replace them with Felons and Fascists. He promised the military that he would let them decide. He kept his promise when his administration filed a brief with SCOTUS stating that gay and lesbian Americans would harm military unity. He also stopped members of Congress from moving forward to end this constitutional violation.
