Rick Santorum this week told Tony Perkins that colleges, universities, and Hollywood are indoctrinating students against Christianity, and abortion and pornography are symptoms of what he sees as an America in decline.
“The cultural indicators that I talked about earlier that are sort of going the wrong way, we’re, you know, in ever-increasing numbers, less and less people here in America, you know, and believe in God, and believe in Jesus Christ, and believe in truth and right and wrong,” Santorum, the failed former Republican presidential hopeful and extreme Chuck Hagel opponent, declared.
“It’s understandable, I mean, if you certainly, if you look at popular culture and what comes out of Hollywood, if you go to our schools and particularly our colleges and universities, they are indoctrinating in a sea of relativism and a sea of antagonism toward Christianity — religion in general, but Christianity in particular. And so it’s understandable that that happens, but we, you’re right. Abortion is a symptom, marriage is a symptom, I mean pornography is, all of these are symptoms to the fundamental issue that we’ve gotten away from the truth and the Truth-Giver.”
Santorum appeared on Washington Watch, hosted by Tony Perkins, head of the Southern Poverty Law Center certified anti-gay hate group, Family Research Council.
Miranda Blue at Right Wing Watch — where you can hear the audio exchange — also notes Perkins “fondly reminisced about the days ‘before repressive government’ when his elementary school teacher would discipline her students with a yardstick. Perkins referred to this supposed golden age of corporal punishment as “B.R.G., Before Repressive Government, back when God was still welcome in our schools.”
It’s important to note that as Santorum has exited the more right wing area of mainstream GOP politics, he is planning a run for the White House in 2016, and is aligning himself with the even more right-wing radicals in the party, like hate group leader Perkins. Santorum also dropped all guise of respectability when he signed on to write an exclusive weekly column for World Net Daily, home to the birther fringe, homophobia, and racism.

BUT WAIT! Hold the Presses! After years of restraint, GOProud says it supports MarriageEquality! http://tinyurl.com/bl24f4q
My university instructors didn't talk to me about religion, unless it was in a religious studies class. I don't recall any of my teachers expressing an opinion one way or the other regarding abortion or pornography – it wasn't relevant to the class. I would have been pissed if they had used class time to evangelize either in favor of or in opposition to any particular religion.
January 22 is the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade – after 40 years “wandering in the desert” of abortion, it’s time for an Exodus from the desert into the “promised land” of a country that puts an end to abortion (and de-funding Planned Parenthood is a good place to start!) http://www.know7things.net/Sin.html
