And More Palin Lies: ‘Most Americans’ Will Lose Their Health Care Plan
Sarah Palin appeared on NBC’s “Today” show this morning to trash President Barack Obama and to sell her latest book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. But it’s not the book that’s making news, rather her lies about Obamacare, and one sentence that should surprise faithful Christians.
You’ll remember that the former Republican Vice Presidential candidate, former (and half-term) Governor of Alaska, former chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, former Mayor of Wasilla, former “Miss Congeniality,” former sportscaster, former head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, former star of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” and former and current Fox News contributor attends a non-denominational Christian church. In 2008, a widely-circulated video showed Palin being prayed over to protect her from witches — and for God to ”bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus.”
This morning, Palin, while hawking her book, told Matt Lauer, “I love the commercialization of Christmas, because it spreads the Christmas cheer.”
Lauer, trying to get Palin to settle on one narrative, then said, “but you say it takes the heart out of Christmas.”
“No,” Palin responded, “what I’m saying is we need to protect the heart of Christmas and not let an angry atheist armed with an attorney, as Scrooge, tell us that we can’t celebrate traditional faith in America. We have a constitutionally protected right to celebrate faith and Christmas is a part of that.”
So, the commercialization of Christmas is the heart of Christmas? And that needs to be protected?
Earlier in the interview, Palin falsely stated that ”most Americans” will lose their health care under Obamacare. Which, of course, is a flagrant lie.
And Lauer had to correct her. The number estimated is not “most Americans,” but five percent of Americans. And why are they losing their health care plans? Because those plans are crap, and better plans, for less, can be had at the Obamacare exchanges, which many are complaining about — but not trying out.
You’ll notice that Palin’s modus operandi is to keep talking without making sense in the hope that her interviewer will just move on. He did not, forcing Palin to detail the Tea Party’s alternative health care plan:
“The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America that certainly does need more help so that there’s more competition, there’s less tort reform threat, there’s less, um, trajectory of the cost increases, and those plans have been proposed over and over again. And what thwarts those plans, it’s the far left, it’s President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the Republicans to usher in free market, patient-centered, doctor patient relationship links to reform health care.”
But then Lauer just gave up.
By the way, Palin on Sunday compared the national debt to slavery.
“Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China,” Palin, speaking at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition‘s fall fundraiser . “When that money comes due – and this isn’t racist, but it’ll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master.”
Who, won’t let Americans celebrate Christmas either, probably. See? It’s just one big vicious circle…
