In what easily was the second best (and last) press conference of President Barack Obama‘s first term in office, the President told Congress, “We are not a deadbeat nation.” President Obama was responding to a somewhat pointed question from MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, and repeatedly told reporters and the nation that raising the debt ceiling does not authorize spending more money, it authorizes Congress to pay for the bills it already passed.
By the way, Obama’s best press conference (although not a press conference,) was 2010′s “Question Time,” in which he smacked down the GOP:
