This morning MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts discussed with GOProud’s Jimmy LaSalvia and Republican strategist Steve Schmidt today’s news that over 80 top Republicans are signing an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to declare marriage for same-sex couples is also a constitutional right.

LaSalvia, despite his organization’s former position on marriage, supports marriage equality. Schmidt stated that he does too, not in spite of his conservative beliefs, but because of them.
Curiously, the MSNBC chyron stated that former President George W. Bush was to sign the brief, but that seems doubtful.
The conversation also turned to the extremes in the GOP, with CPAC not allowing GOProud to attend — and not even inviting the most-popular Republican Governor, Chris Christie, to speak.
