Post image for Child Abuse, Child Molestation, And Gays

News today comes of the arrest of a Delaware pediatrician accused of raping, sexually assaulting and molesting over one hundred young girls since 1998.

Yes, yet another case of heterosexual child molestation.

Joe.My.God put it well today.  On the Delaware pediatrician story, he sarcastically wrote,

“Delaware pediatrician Dr. Earl Bradley has been charged with 471 counts of molesting over 100 girls in his practice, providing blatant proof that heterosexual men are all inherent molesters who should not be trusted around children.”

And yet we constantly have anti-gay groups spreading lies about homosexuals wanting to indoctrinate children into the “gay lifestyle.” NOM’s Brian Brown, as I reported a few weeks ago, actually had to audacity to claim that gay marriage poses a greater threat of child abuse, and that children are only safe with their only married biological parents.

Meanwhile, in reality world, it turns out that, according to the same study Brian quoted,

“The majority of all [abused or neglected] children … were maltreated by their biological parents.” In fact, the study says that “92% were neglected by biological parents” and “64% were abused by biological parents.”

“Biological parents were the most closely related perpetrators for 71% of physically abused children and for 73% of emotionally abused children.”

And yet, the National Organization For Marriage would have you believe that gays and gay marriage are direct threats to the safety and welfare of children, when in fact, sadly, their own biological parents are the greatest threat to them. Sad, but true.

Same story with child molestation. The common “wisdom” in the anti-gay world is that gays are child molesters, not straights. And yet, we know that the majority of child molestation incidents are heterosexual, not homosexual. And those numbers even include all the reported child molestation cases by the Church.

Via University Of California/Davis:

“The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so.”

When do we say, enough?

When do we get to set the facts straight on who’s more often the abuser, who’s more often the molester, and who’s not?

Is There a Place for Gay People in Conservatism and Conservative Politics?

As I wrote earlier this week, the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank (which boasts the likes of Tucker Carlson as a Senior Fellow,) this week held a conference titled, “Is There a Place for Gay People in Conservatism and Conservative Politics?”
The debate, which [...]

NOM: Gay Federal Prop 8 Judge Equals Automatic Bias

Let’s be totally honest here. The National Organization For Marriage (NOM) hates us. I don’t use the word “hate” lightly. But, as I wrote last week, a just-released Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll found that a large segment of our fellow countrymen, in fact, a majority of Republicans, don’t want us to marry, teach their [...]

Conservatives See Court Case As Invitation To Further Bigotry Agenda
In his weekly newsletter (read: donation-shilling email) National Organization for Marriage Executive Director Brian Brown writes,
“The new Supreme Court decision in Citizens United…is giving us all a renewed measure of hope for our other legal cases. In Yes on 8 vs. Bowen, we are joining with [...]

Support The Military! Unless They Support Gays Serving In The Military

It’s rather ironic, if you think about it.
The one politically untouchable segment of our country is the military. Presidents and Senators often say they will “defer to the military leaders on the ground” in matters large and small. President Obama took a bit of heat after his State of the Union address because some felt [...]

If Money Is Speech, Anti-Gay Marriage D.C. Residents Were Mum

All politics may be local, but political donations are anything but. I’ve often wondered if he should be a law prohibiting out-of-state money in local politics. Of course, given the Supreme Court’s ridiculous decision in Citizen’s United, well, that will never happen.
So, let’s talk D.C.’s recent same-sex marriage campaign. If the good citizens of Washington, [...]

U.S. Government Study: Majority Of Abused Children Maltreated By Their Biological Parents — Not By Same-Sex Couples

It seems straight marriage really is under attack. This time, from the Church itself, which has had more annulment cases in the United States than in the rest of the world — combined. And so Pope Benedict XVI is chastising clerics and telling them to avoid granting the coveted church decisions “at all costs.”
One has [...]

Maggie Gallagher’s Strange Sense Of “Reality”

A few day ago, Maggie Gallagher, the founder and president of the National Organization for (Straights only) Marriage, filed this post on NOM’s blog:
“Trial Watch Update/Maggie Gallagher
This isn’t really a trial update. While David Blankenhorn is on the hand try to explain to David Boies the nature of marriage as a cross-cultural virtually universal [...]

Scott Brown’s Positions On DOMA, DADT, ENDA, And More

Scott Brown, the Massachusetts Republican state senator running against Democrat Martha Coakley, Massachusetts’ Attorney General, is vehemently against LGBTQ rights.

That’s right. In their never-ending battle against same-sex marriage, the National Organization for Marriage has spent towards the campaign of Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown – the man who posed nude for Cosmo, and voted in favor of the Marriage Amendment in Massachusetts’ legislature – $50,000. Specifically, according to a NOM email sent today,
“That’s why NOM [...]
