Ted Olson

On Saturday I posted, “Bill Moyers, Ted Olson, David Boies Discuss Federal Prop 8 Trial.” Fortunately, the first portion of the video is available now, so here you go! You’ll need to head over to PBS to watch the rest of the program. Once you’re done, please, head over to Bill’s blog and join the discussion. Make sure you read through the comments there — as long as you can until you get ill. Some are pretty foul.

On this week’s edition of Bill Moyers Journal, Ted Olson and David Boies, the conservative and liberal duo who teamed up and just concluded their challenge to Prop 8 in the first federal marriage equality case, discuss why they took the case, and why marriage equality is so important.
Unfortunately, PBS does not offer embedding of [...]

Now That Corporations Are People, Can They Marry Each Other? What If They’re Gay?
Tales of the absurdity that is America.

Seems pretty clear to me. Here are the video depositions of two witnesses the pro-Prop 8 folks pulled, stating they feared for their safety from pro-gay marriage activists. Seems to me their testimony here, had it been given in court, would have handed us a win.
Some excerpts:

I’ve taken the liberty of marking in bold the parts I thought were especially compelling. Here you go:

This case is [...]

”One by one, other states would fall into Satan’s hands…Every child, when growing up, would fantasize marrying someone of the same sex. More children would become homosexuals.”

January 9, 2010 12:22 PM by David Badash

Hak-Shing William Tam, an attorney who spent a year working to effect passage of Prop 8, and “urged” the judge in next week’s David Boies/Ted Olson federal marriage case to be an official litigant, now fears for the safety of his family and himself. And he can’t understand why a letter he wrote to his [...]
