As the U.S. and many nations around the world are becoming more and more accepting of gay people, same-sex marriage, and the LGBT community, those who oppose us are moving further and further away from tolerance and acceptance. The International Healing Foundation, an “ex-gay” group, has now announced their new goal. No longer do they want to “help” just those who want to change, now they want to be the ones to bring about “The End Of Homosexuality.”

Their newsletter, published at PFOX — Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays — reads:

Want to Know How?

Want to be part of an exciting revolution? Want to end homosexuality and prevent bullying? Want to protect your children and grandchildren?

Everyday our kids are being inundated with false information about homosexuality-born that way and cannot change. This is both scientifically and scripturally untrue.

“Ending” homosexuality to prevent bullying is kind of like “ending” overweight, underweight, smart, not-so-smart, uncoordinated, coordinated, attractive, unattractive, kids to prevent bullying. In other words, get rid of the victims instead of the victimizers.

Not only that, but (surprise!) there’s a fundraising effort attached.

You can help end homosexuality and prevent bullying today! We invite you to step out of your box, make a difference, and spread the solution.

Here’s how:
With your generous donation of $50 or more, we’ll send a complementary copy of our groundbreaking Acception film to anyone of your choosing (your name will not be mentioned).

With your donation of $100 or more, we’ll send the film, curriculum, poster, and wristband to anyone of your choosing. Let’s make our public or private schools and youth groups be part of the solution to save more innocent lives, end homosexuality, and prevent bullying by using Acception in their health education curriculum.

We need you! Please contribute monthly $25 or more. We will be your voice in the public venue to end homosexuality and prevent bullying. We will be relentless to protect your children and grandchildren by spreading the truth in love-no one is born with SSA and change is possible!

I’m not sure I can imagine worse spam than an offer to “end homosexuality” — my own or anyone else’s — arriving via the postal service.

Calling it “outrageous” and “infused with hubris, fantasy and hypocrisy,” Truth Wins Out founder and expert “ex-gay” debunker Wayne Besen writes that International Healing Foundation director Christopher Doyle is “a clown who promised thousands of ‘ex-gays’ for his silly ‘Ex-Gay Pride’ burlesque, but only rounded up ten — most of whom worked with him as paid counselors.”

Besen sys the promise to “end homosexuality” is “aggressive rhetoric” and “certainly a change of tone from the group’s ‘Coming Out Loved’ website, which has a cheesy video where the group’s founder, Richard Cohen, declares, ‘Us versus them is so over.’”

Think Progress’ Zack Ford notes that “though it’s the fringe ex-gay group PFOX directly promoting the International Healing Foundation’s rhetoric, ex-gay therapy is of course defended by the more mainstream conservative christian organizations like the Family Research CouncilFocus on the Family, and even the National Organization for Marriage of late. It’s the latest evidence that all of these groups are actively working against the lives of LGBT people, despite what rhetoric they might use about ‘religious liberty.’”

So, they'll end bullying by "ending" homosexuality which is really their code for eliminating homosexuals. Kind of like saying Hitler wanted to eliminate Antisemitism by exterminating the Jews.
The bigots twist and turn to find new ways to express their hatred.

Is that a threat of mass murder? Over my second amendment protected and practiced dead body.

The ideology of Hitler is strong in that terrorist group.

P.S. Attacking and harassing gay people is bullying, Pfaux, you benighted blood thirsty troglodyte bullies.

We invite you to step out of your box

I've said it a hundred times, and I'm sure I'll say it hundreds more: fundamentalists have no sense of irony.

For once, PFOX is being open and honest. I interacted with an online group of theirs periodically over a couple years, and they were determined to "end" homosexuality by making sure their LGBT family members no longer existed to them, didn't participate in family gatherings, didn't exist as human beings worthy of respect.

Wouldn't it be an ethics violation for a licensed counselor to put his/her name on nonsense like this?

I'd love to know more about Christopher Doyle's license to practice as a therapist. Virginia (where the Associated Press just mentioned he lives) requires psychologists to be licensed, and licensees can be looked up here:

But, Doyle's name doesn't appear there in any category.

This hateful anti-gay fantasy is pretty ironic given that the entire "ex-gay" movement has almost ended. We need to close any loopholes in the law that permit this abusive quackery from being provided electronically. We ban internet gambling, we need to make promoting the torture of children via this debunked "therapy" punishable by prison.

Talk about a group of idiots! The only way homosexuality will ever disappear is through human extinction. If he's taking $50 & $100 contributions for this organization, he should be taxed on every cent he collects because this is not a charity and can't possibly be a not-for-profit organization. It's all about profit to be able to afford to push forward his anti-LGBT rhetoric.

Of course, it's doubtful if they'll be looked into even though psychiatrists have declared this practice as not workable. Doyle is just another piece of shit in a giant heap of it.
