I just came to the realization this morning that I (we, the whole American possibly even World culture) need new language to be able to speak calmly, respectfully and intelliigently about the whole of human experience, especially sexual identity, expression, orientation, behavior. I thought this more specifically w/ regard to realm of the transgendered. We don't have good words yet because, as a civization, we haven't fully embraced our complete diversity yet. SO it's not necessarily that anyone is dissing or dismissing anyone...it's that we don't quite have the language worked out yet. Good that we can have discussion like this, though. That's a good start. What's your blog? I'd like to start following it. Sheela! But can you folks learn the words bisexual and transgender? As a bi women, I'm tired of being disenfranchised from my own community, by the people in my community, even if they are fighting for my rights. I'm neither gay nor a straight supporter. I'm a bi member of the LGBT community, an activist and a blogger. If you want my help in getting the bi community out for this, you need to be more inclusive. Many bi people are going to take one look at your PR and not want to participate. Why would you want to put off two valuable sectors of the LGBT community by not naming them?
