Let’s be very honest with each other. You like President Obama and you know he has done a good job and not only deserves a second term, but he’s earned it. So what’s the problem? Well, with all due respect, the problem may be you.
ABC News just one hour ago released a new poll (PDF) that supports what many other polls have found over the past few weeks.
Among registered voters, President Obama is winning, 50% to Mitt Romney‘s 43%. That’s an excellent margin.
So, what’s the problem?
Likely voters.
Among likely voters — those who are registered but for whatever reason: a hair appointment, too many meetings, lack of desire to invest a few hours in line to vote, apathy, etc. — President Obama is essentially tied with Mitt Romney: 49% to 48%.
So, is the problem that Mitt Romney is a great candidate and has sold himself to more people than the president has?
No.
Is President Obama doing a good job and could he help this nation more than Mitt Romney could?
Yes.
Will Mitt Romney take us back to the 1950s?
Yes.
Are some Americans — some Democrats — too busy, apathetic, unmotivated, to get out and vote?
Yes.
Will you be one of the folks whose apathy could put Romney in the White House?
