“The Normal Heart” won the Tony for “Best Revival Of A Play.”
Playwright Larry Kramer, the author of “The Normal Heart,” delivered what will forever be remembered as an historic blessing to the LGBT community:
“To gay people everywhere, whom I love so dearly, The Normal Heart is our history. I could not have written it had not so many needlessly died. Learn from it and carry on the fight. Let them know that we are a very special people, an exceptional people, and that, our day will come.”
Daryl Roth, the producer of “The Normal Heart,” opened her acceptance speech of the “Best Revival Of A Play” Tony Award by saying, “The freedom to love, the freedom to live and the freedom to marry are still urgent issues and we all share a deep belief that theatre can change the world, and that theater really matters.”
Two beautiful people, two beautiful statements.
