My guess is that it was written by a person, who, if old enough, probably thinks African Americans should still be drinking from their own water fountains. As I recall, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 wasn't so popular with the people, but necessary legislation. The same is true of legislative acts like those taken by the Vermont legislature yesterday in overturning Governor Douglas' veto — they may not be popular with all the people, but its necessary legislation. One of government's roles is to protect the rights of the minority. Vermont did that yesterday.

Thanks, folks for keeping on top of this as I went to bed. It was almost 2:30 AM when I posted this, rather exhausted after covering Vermont, then Iowa, the Vermont again, then DC, in less than a week, without much rest! It's been so exciting, but also exciting is all the support and watchfulness you and all my readers have been giving.
I woke this morning to your tweets and comments (Not to mention a link to this piece via Japhy Grant at Queerty!) and I felt our cause for civil rights, fairness, honesty, and equality is growing and in great hands.

I think it is interesting that the BFF guy has deleted the tweets to you in this conversation. Then he brags about being labeled a troll. I think he misunderstood, as he's coming off more as a "tool"

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the person who sent that tweet got incorrect information from a source like Rush Limbaugh.
