Vote! Should New York Have A Gay Marriage Bill?

Win, Lose, Or Draw, Governor Wants A Vote

 

David Patterson wants to sign a bill to allow gay marriage in New York, a state that already recognizes gay marriages from outside the state. The New York Times reports that some gay marriage advocates aren’t so sure:

“Why would you want people to vote on something that you knew wasn’t going to get passed,” said Alan Van Capelle, executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda, which is lobbying lawmakers in Albany to approve a same-sex marriage bill this year. “We’re not interested in making statements.”
