In a hilarious and yet frighteningly realistic trip into the mind of Liz Cheney, Rachel Maddow plays six degrees of separation with the Al-Qaeda 7.
This seriously is the best Maddow segment ever! She treats the ever-un-American Liz Cheney exactly as Liz treats us: as Al-Qaeda terrorists. It’s damn-near perfect.
I said damn-near. What truly bothers me about this story, and even Maddow doesn’t push this point enough, is that, as Prop 8 lawyer Ted Olson wrote,
“The ethos of the bar is built on the idea that lawyers will represent both the popular and the unpopular, so that everyone has access to justice. Despite the horrible Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, this is still proudly held as a basic tenet of our profession.
“When government officials are called ‘war criminals’ and when public-interest lawyers are called ‘terrorist huggers,’ it not only cheapens the discourse, it scrambles the dialogue. The best solutions to these difficult problems will emerge only when the best advocates, backed by weighty resources, bring their talents to bear. And the heavy work of creating solutions for these complicated issues can only move forward when the name-calling ceases.”

Great segment, although it does go on and on a bit.
Still, the phrase "war criminal" has a real meaning in the English language, and in American and International law, just as the word "torture" does.
No one can say the same about "terrorist hugger," the meaning of which is buried in Liz Cheney's scary, scary mind.
Bad comparison, Mr Olson. Go back and read Orwell's Politics & The English Language.
Can we put this Liz Cheney definition in Urban Dictionary! Seriously!
