MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts today interviewed Evan Wolfson on the new million-dollar advertising campaign for marriage equality. Wolfson, the father of the modern day marriage movement, is co-chair of the Respect for Marriage Coalition and the founder and president of Freedom To Marry.
Wolfson talks about the ad, which includes news media advertising, and a TV spot, featuring President Obama, former Vice President Dick Cheney, former First Lady Laura Bush, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Roberts asks Wolfson if the four political leaders have specifically endorsed this campaign, and Wolfson replies that they choose their comments wisely and they’re all on the record about their support for marriage equality.
Wolfson adds, “if every time somebody wanted their freedom to be respected — freedom to marry, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, an the freedom to marry — they had to go and put it up to a vote it wouldn’t be a right it would be a vote.”
