Post image for Watch: NOM Claims FRC Shooting Motivated By ‘Hate Group’ Label

Brian Brown, president of NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, this morning on CNN claimed the man who shot a guard in the arm yesterday at the Family Research Council did so because the group has been labeled a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). CNN attempted to do an admirable job in explaining why the SPLC  labeled the FRC a hate group, but missed one important point. The Southern Poverty Law Center labels groups hate groups when they demonstrate a consistent pattern of malicious lying, which FRC does.

For example:

Here again we have an excellent example of how NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, is using events — fraudulently — to change the conversation to one of their choosing. NOM has long hated the “hate group” label and has fought very hard against it, knowing full well their heightened rhetoric has now met the SPLC’s definition of a hate group.

The Family Research Council shooter — who was reportedly carrying Chick-Fil-A marketing materials — more likely was motivated by Chick-Fil-A’s funding of the Family Research Council than by the SPLC’s “hate group” designation. But, we don’t know — something the FBI said that NOM didn’t bother to respect.

Of course, no one at CNN bothered to make that connection, and thus let Brian Brown frame the conversation.

We need to stop letting our opponents do this.

It is sad that Leo the guard is the one who pays the price for this.

NOM and the Family Research Council complement each other in their political gay bashing through their shared directorship from Robert George. In other words, when Brian Brown is defending the Family Research Council, he's defending his boss Robert George.

Hmmm… The FRC and NOM are quick to connect the dots that being labeled a 'hate group' could have resulted in unjustifiable violence towards them, but I've yet to see any evidence that they have similarly concluded that labeling LGBT individuals as "unnatural" , "queer" or "an abomination" might similarly result in unjustifiable violence against them – I suspect they believe that gay teen bullying and suicides are random acts with no correlation with anti-gay rhetoric.

Keep in mind, CNN is not an independent company, but is owned by AOL Timewarner. AOL Timewarner, as reported by CNN, supported SOPA and PIPA, both of which were all over the internet with nary a peep from CNN, until finally google and wikipedia and many other sites shut down, forcing everyone to take notice. They also do the same fawning over every white kid who gets abducted. When’s the last time a black child was abducted and became a national story? They may be better than Fox but that does not mean they are GOOD. They are not fans of human freedom, they just like that their market includes a lot of liberals.
